    Garden State

The Village had a great soundtrack, too.

Let's not forget Phantom of the Opera for overall greatness.

    - lost in translation (air, my bloody valentine, kevin shields..)
    - good will hunting (elliott smith and more elliott smith)
    - the life aquatic (bowie, mark mothersbaugh, seu jorge)
    - the royal tennenbaums (mark mothersbaugh, bob dylan, nick drake, paul simon, elliott smith, nico)
    - american splendor (TONS of great jazz you and I have never heard of before)
    - friday night lights (almost the whole soundtrack is Explosions in the Sky.. havent seen the movie but I want to just to see how they used their songs in the film)
    - wicker park (mogwai, broken social scene, mum, mates of state, shins... definitely the "indie" soundtrack of 2004... too bad everyone is busy swinging from garden states nuts to realize this.)

I adore the Amelie soundtrack, but I haven't seen Garden State just yet. And if Explosions in the Sky did most of the Friday Night Lights soundract, I'm gonna have to see it and get the soundtrack

I probably love soundtracks and theme songs more than normal songs.

    Full Soundtracks:

    Terminator 1
    Terminator 2
    Robocop
    Band of Brothers
    Black Hawk Down
    Enemy at the Gates
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
    Heat
    The Great Escape
    Home Alone
    Home Alone 2
    Apocolaypse Now
    Goonies
    Saving Private Ryan
    The Natural

    Just theme songs:

    The Longest Day
    Indiana Jones
    Superman

The Requiem For A Dream score has the most impact of any movie soundtrack I've ever heard. I can't even imagine the movie having the same emotionally wrenching effect without it.

The Swingers soundtrack is also very good, as is the High Fidelity soundtrack.

Movies about music = the best soundtrack
