~ 600 pics on an 8gb card, still a decent amount.

Depends on what you're shooting, but the largest I've gotten was 18.5 MB.

In smaller sizes even 3200 looks fine.

Actually, those are both 1600, but as long as you expose properly and make sure you have no motion blur, 3200 is no big deal.

Image problems like motion blur and underexposure seem to make high ISO noise exponentially worse.

It really handles more like a mini mark III than a 30D successor.

The handling really sold me on it. :hs:

I really wasn't sure that it was much of an upgrade, but then I saw a few images that made me realize it really is MUCH sharper than my 20D's are out of the camera (meaning much less USM in post) and then I found one to handle at a local shop.

The 40D handling and and UI >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 20D

Now I have to sell my 20D's

I'll chime in on the ISO capabilities as well, I shoot events...been switching between 1d's the mark 2, then a mark 2n, then the 5d, and now a mark 3...In situations I was shooting at 1600 2.8 @ 200th I'm now at 1000-1250 ISO, 2.8 at 320th...whatever they have done with the noise control is amazing. Sounds like the 40d got the same deal.

Glad to hear you got to fart with one. Sorry I never posted the pictures of the sky comparing RAW to in-camera JPEG detail. I guess I'm just a lazy piece of shit.

Now I want to sell my old 30D and get another 40D... I hate switching back to the 30D now when shooting two bodies heh.
