I have to say that my best live albums would probably be

Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio
    Rush - Rush In Rio
Dream Theater - Metropolis 2000: Scenes From A Memory
    Metallica - S&M

Probably each of the bands at their best.

  6. The Who - Live at Leeds.
    Sarah Vaughan and Clifford Brown.
Pumpkins - Shoot Out the Lights
U2 - Many. Just about anything from the last tour is great. The Irving Plaza bootleg is pristine.
Sheryl Crow - Trinity Church Sessions - A PERFECT soundboard recording.

    cheap trick Live at Budokan

official live cds generally suck because they are over processed and all of the ambient sounds are taken out of the recordings. i'll take a good qual aud recording over a sbd any day of the week.

u2's irving plaza was just put out as an upgraded dvd with an extra cam angle intergraded.

    Rush: Exit...Stage Left
    Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive
    Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense
    Stevie Ray Vaughan: Unplugged

And the best individual live tracks are:
Peter Frampton: Do you feel like we do
Cheap Trick: I want you to want me
Stevie Ray Vaughan: Everything he ever played live

I Love AiC's unplugged, and the Eagle's hell freezes over cd is one of the best sounding live cd's I've ever heard; Hotel California is just amazing :)
