I'm headed back to college in January and I want to get a laptop. I know more about PC's than I do laptops and I was just wondering what you guys would suggest for less than $1000. Thanks.

Mainly just school work. Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Plus a lot of internet surfing. I want it to have a wireless card. CD-RW. Wi-Fi if I can since a place right by campus has free connection. I won't be gaming with it or anything like that. A DVD drive is def a plus but not a must.

I would try to see if you can get a good deal on a dell latitude d600 or inspiron 600m. I have an inspiron 5100 and that thing is a b#@$$ to carry around because its too heavy.

I second the 12" iBook. For a college student it will work great.
