you said you wanted reliable.. why you buy a Mitsu.. and trying to mod that is worthless if you wanted to go fast should of gotten something else

2 year warrenty, 11k miles... the car was ideal for me and at a great price because my buddy is the finance officer

i don't want speed, i just like the way it sounded

K&N or whatever ebay is pushing

u can always just remove the bottom half of the airbox and turn the air filter upside down

not gona make the car faster but it will have a nicer noise for FREE

but if u really want it to sound manly and not ricey, u need to get a cold air intake. i dont know who makes the better ones for that motor.......cant go wrong with an overpriced AEM

AEM didn't have a cold air intake for an 02 so I went ahead and got an injen short ram

i have an injen short ram on my lancer now but today noticed it is ( just bearly ) touching the battery brace, its causing the tip of the filter to melt a little bit and warp the side, will it be okay to just leave it alone ?

if making my car look and sound nice makes me a ricer than so be it, i'd rather be driving in style than pushing around some stock shitbox like everyone else

dude to each his own if this guy wants to put some stuff on his car so be it "ricers" IMO are those dudes you see with like 2 different body kits on there car NONE of the pieces painted, unpainted "combat" wing and an exhaust that sounds like when back in the day we used to put baseball cards in the spokes of our bicycles. that is a ricer IMO. this guy just wants to add some stuff to his car? So why not help him instead of being dicks?

well anyways, the intake sounds great. i'm planning to dremel the heat sheild and use the stock ram air to draw on more cold air. other than my intake all i have done so far is new wheels/tires and audio ( mtx thunder 2301, jl audio w2, pioneer HDU, infity 6.5's all around ) I have a bit of wheel gap but don't want to buy springs, that adds a lot of pressure on the rims and is just hell for your suspension down the road.

next thing I am doing is 35% tint all around and an evo style hood

here is a pic of the wheels, 17" enkei DM5 on extreme contact conts'

    linked for size

I have a Injen CAI intake on my Eclipse. Have no complaints what so ever. The best part is that for winter i took a tube off and converted it to a WAI to prevent water from entering the engine. Got it off ebay for about forty dollars less then most sites want for it.

I am just going to stick a hydro gaurd around mine since it's a SRI and sits high anyways

added an air duct and ordered a hydro gaurd for the filter

was pretty fun, took about an hour to dremel the sheet metal and sand everything down

Mine came with the hydro guard. I leave it on when its a CAI, but it wont fit when its a WAI.

edit: hey my pic says no hitlinking, i'll repost it

With the Injen the guard is a metal piece that is the same basic shape as the filter and instead of ending where yours ends, mine goes next to the battery instead of behind it.
