Best Home Server

    What does OT think is a good home server? Should i build one or is there a good prebuilt system out there? I know allittle about computers and i think i could build one with some help. What does OT think?

    What are you going to do with it? Do you just want a file server or do you want to open a small business from your home or something. IT is kind of hard to give advice without knowing what you plan to do with it.

    Fwiw, Microsoft is releasing their home server software sometime this year.

    I read a very positvie review of it in a Paul Thurrott collumn.

    I wanted to put music and movies on it so i can use them on other computers and tv hooked up to my network.

    just get a NAS (Network Attached Storage).

    No need for a server, and you can buy NAS's at your local bestbuy/fry's/compusa etc

    NAS would do fine

    if you got an old system running, you can set that up too

    depends on your budget and what you have available

    Not too many NASes offer HTTP server support though.
