The one that never fails with a caliber of 9mm to .45, that fits your hand comfortably and you practice with regularly.

I've got a USP .45 as a nightstand gun and a 92D in the drawer beside it as a backup/reserve

If you won't consider a shotgun, use whatever pistol you feel most comfortable with. Preferably full-size, big bore and a magnum if you can handle it.

For home defense only shotgun is good and cheap. If you want a handgun though then I prefer the 1911 over any of the berreta's. RI or Springfield 1911 should do fine, I'd also consider Glock 21.

That new 1911 looks hot, but I heard they're working on something newer, supposedly in 9mm and its rumored to hold 13 rounds!!

The barrell on that appears to be a bit ... short. 10-round magazines?

I need to get one of those, damnit - locally-available and all that crap.

    best home defense

12 gauge pump action loaded with 00 buck

if you are expecting lots of company go for something like a winchester model of 1897 that lacks a trigger disconnect pump and spray.

A quick search brought me to the Tromix website. I think it's one of their LEO models.

They somehow managed to stagger the bullets in the magazine to take up less space. It's not gonna have the old grip safety though. :sad2:
