What is the current best desktop computer for the money you pay for it on the market right now that you guys know of? I saw some Dell's that were quad cores that were pretty cheap.

Just build your own! Or Woot has them on their site really cheap occasionally...

i've never seen anything cheaper than the dell deals...

saw q6600, 3gb ram, for $300 for a while last year... haven't been paying attention as of late.

If you want to make a good computer, the new AM3 955 Processor, 4 gigs of DD3, and mother board are going for $460 on newegg. Not bad considering it allows a good amount of upgrade and you won't have to go out and get a new computer for a while.

Its the computer I'm going to be looking at getting soon.

you can get a slightly slower machine (but not really), but for $330 you can get an emachines and 17" LCD.

Go to slickdeals.net (check their listings and their "hot deals" forum) They always list great deals on dell computers.

Dell's packages are inexpensive and come with a nice LCD usually.
