Let a brotha know
vps, won't get dedi at that price. www.liquidweb.com and its 10 bucks more.
just how exactly would a provider make any profit from a 50 dollar cheap dedicated server
well usually the cost of a server is covered in 6 months of ownership. so you are looking at a server that costs less then 300 bucks to build. then you can get clients iwth add ons like ram upgrades and control panels.
I was going to start one
aplus.net does it. or did it.
I'm not sure where you're going to find anything that cheap, but 1and1 is about twice that, but they are GREAT! I have 2 dedicated servers with them (Windows) and haven't had any problems. The servers are SUPER FAST too.
where could I purchase server hardware to build for under 300
Keep an eye out on Ebay and what not for older equipment as well as craigslist for pallets of equipment. If you look hard enough you can find them pretty easily.
Ebay, companys just throw there old crap away. Sometimes someone swill snag it up from the trash bin and sell it on ebay.
Value Servers - $50/month. I've been very happy with them. (they don't monitor torrent traffic)
ah just buying something used for production use kinda weirds me out. used stuff wears out to quick or something is always wrong.
or it still works after extended use because the hardware is solid.
