so i went to the local cingular store and their phone selection is horrible to say the least. i want a phone that has a camera, video cam, mp3 player... you know, the works. the slvr i have now is just too damn buggy and it keeps freezing on me. can anyone link me to a good phone?

I have this phone and I'm loving it.
It holds a micro SD card for your photo and MP3 storage.
The phone is selling right now for $100 for two, (after rebates) it's a ridiculously good deal.

I really like this phone - great screen resolution, decent photo quality, world phone, lots of options...

*edited for type of SD card (takes micro, not mini)

K800 isn't quad band with 850MHz. Cingular needs that band to thrive.

Not rly, I've been using a Nokia 6230a (900/1800/1900) and I get great service everywhere, even places where my friend's quadband phones don't get service.

There is no such thing as a 6230a...there is only a 6230i and a 6230b. It depends on where you live. Some places you can get by with just 1900Mhz but if you travel, good luck especially on the east and west coasts. I always get into an arguement with at least one person about this every 3-4 months. ha.

    you're both wrong!

the 6230b is the non-euro version (has 850). Just because there is a version "b" does not mean there is an "a"
This is illustrated in the howardchui article you posted
the 6230i had an upgraded camera (around 1mp range if I'm not mistaken) and was release after the 6230 and 6230b. the original 6230 was announced in q4 of 2003, while the 6230i was announced in 05

I knew about the 6230b...You're right, the 6230i is the upgraded one but still 900/1800/1900. Ah who cares, its a POS phone anyway and the d-pad selec button is hard to press and the UI blows...ah, enough hating...either series60 or SE phones for me or a future quad band UIQ would be nice.

I really like my Motorola V635. 1.3MP camera with flash, video, mp3 player, micro SD slot up to 1GB, bluetooth, edge, quad band, flip phone with color front display.
My only complaint is that it uses to older style motorola connector instead of the new USB one. Get them new for under $200 on ebay. They are a Euro only model so nobody else will have the same phone as you.

    :) True

actually, I REALLY loved my 6230b. G/F has it now, still going strong. even been wet. its an unbranded black/black pre-released version (still says "prototype - Propery of Nokia" under the battery

Just got a Motorola V3X. Its only triband, and its missing GSM 850, but my cingular service works great. Haven't encountered dead spots. 2 Megapixel phone, internal camera, digital audio player (not that shitty itunes), microSD, bluetooth, really clear QVGA screen. I also like its voice commands (not voice dialing), you can access features like "digit dialing," where you just say the number you want to dial. Its pretty neat and accurate. I don't know if the newer motorolas have this.

Motorola is releasing a US version of the v3x. I forget the name, but its not engadget.com and gsmarena i believe.

If you contine reading, it is refered to as the 6230a, and most people refer to it as the 6230 or the 6230a.

And also, it is a great phone. Great UI (idk what you're talking about) and if you get an aftermarket keypad the center button is much easier to push.

But to each his own. I'm buying a w810i within the next day or so, the nokia's mp3 player isn't as fantastic as I would have hoped, plus the screen is pretty small.
