so I was talking to a training partner about who is considered the best at half guard in bjj. For the most part, I felt that people considered Lucas Lepri the best at it.

maybe "best" is not a good word, but you get the point. Half guard is his forte, and he is amongst the best in the world in that position.

So that got me thinking... there are so many moves and positions that I don't know who is "best" at. And what better way to learn, than to learn them from the people who are best at them.

So... here is my opinion on some:

    half guard: lucas lepri
    full guard: roger gracie
    back mount: marcelo garcia
    mount: roger gracie
de la riva guard: cobrinha/rafael mendes
inverted guard: roberto cyborg, ryan hall
knee bars: derek leyrer (sp? im really curious about what you guys think about this one)

there are much more, so please list who you think is best at those...

    Sweeps: Roleta

btw rafael mendes uses the 50-50 guard not the de la riva guard

i like cobrinha's inverted alot more than ryan's.

and half guard is quite vauge. you got guys that work half-butterfly, deep half, and half-guard with lockdown, and shallow/normal half.

xande's mount & full guard are top notch as well.

thats like saying "who isn't good at a good position". Most of the black belts are good at them all, but I'm talking about who is considered the best.

roger is the best when he mounts because he finished every single oponent at the last words with a choke from the mount. How many black belts do you know who consistently finish guys with a mounted choke?

it was nogi but it works the same for both pretty much. i learned his sweeps where he jacks your knee.. and how to get into that position in different ways

i got one pass too, but i dont know how practical it is yet

I think you are right, but I don't remember him scoring so much with it, unlike say cobrinha where his de la riva hook = your death
