alright guys, I'm shopping around for home theater speakers for my little basement.

Looking to spend around 2k, 2500 at the most. I have little space, so I'd rather go for satellite/sub systems.

I have definiteve bipolar towers upstairs already so I really want a little variety and stay away from Definitive's mini speakers, even if they are good.

Please NO polk, or Infiniti and definitetly no BOSE.

Dont forget to scratch JBL and Harmon/Kardon off that list.

Have you considered going DIY? It would be a great project, and somthing really unique, and the sound to $ ratio is unbeatable...period.

Well the satillites are probably more of a personal preference, but as for the subwoofer, what about getting http://www.acoustic-visions.com/performancekits.htm to build you a subwoofer? It would beat pretty much any store bought sub for the same price. Or you could get the Adire Dharman. Or SVS.. Heh, actually I suppose their are a lot of options. Do you want to get all the speakers as a entire set, or can you get them differently?

well, the diy kits sound good, but for some one picky about the quality of their speakers, plus the fact that I don't have much experience building home speakers, I rather not do this DIY by myself.

But I'm willing to mix and match. Some companies, like Monitor audio, have nice satellites, but their subs are TOO expensive.

I'll probably check out Boston or Energy.

    for a little variety:

    ~B&W DM603/LCR60/DM600 S3 with a REL sub (Q150-E or Strata III)

~Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3B (under budget)
