Looking for a new gun in that price range.. only requirement is that its a larger caliber (I have a 9 now and want something bigger) and a pistol (not a rifle)

Glock or Springfield XD .40's or if you're willing to count a +$35-50 as that "~", you could get a Glock .45

Damn all the above, get a CZ in .40 S&W. Take the rest of the money and buy night sights and nice holster. I swear, CZ's have changed my opinion on non-polymer guns. Fuck it, get a EAA Witness in 10mm. Now that is a gun, can't beat 10mm.

I have considered a 1911 but the frame Ruger uses for the P-series looks like a 1911, but I do like the SS ones
I have also considered a XD-40 I heard they are good guns.

I have also considered a .44mag revolver, but down the road of I wish to carry a 14" revolver wouldnt be concealable

    keep the ideas coming.

I'd say a Glock, given your price range. Since you mentioned revolvers, you could also look at Smith & Wesson .357 mag snubs. The Ruger sp101 series revolvers are also great revolvers for around $300 NIB.

I can get a Glock 23 for around $462 + FFL fee... I was looking at Taurus revolvers, the ,44 mag is only just over $400, but again it comes down to if I want to carry adn I know the .44 mag wont fit in my gunsafe

I need to go test fire a Glock 23 and a XD .40

I just bought a WWII Springfield replica .45 1911 for under $400. Very nice CNC machining.

I also got a new Ruger Vaquero in .45LC for under $400. Very well made, but with the 7" barrel, I don't think I will be using it for concealed carry.

Everybody should have a 1911 and I think the Springfield is a great buy right now.

yeah, the lower-line milspecs are pretty cool. great triggers. the upper end milspecs don't even seem that much better. either way, i hate fixed rear sights, but i'd love to have one of those for fun. when they were new, they went for $350. then dealers realized that they could get an extra $50 for them.

I decided to go with the XD9 because of the reputation and the good feedback, but also because it fit my budget as well. It was a hair over $400. I think the .40's were the same as well. If I had to do it again, I'd buy the XD again.
