    Hi,

    I'm planning to buy a 1 touch backup hard drive for my friend as a present, I've been looking at the one by Maxtor... basically I need one for a person who doesn't know much about computers, can anyone recommend me one? Thanks!

    simplicity = Maxtor OneTouch > *
    drive quality = Maxtor OneTouch < *

    does that make sense to you?

    It doesn't exist. Buy a hard drive and an external case, put the drive in the case, and give that to him. He can plug it in and drag/drop files to it just like any other hard drive.

    Do that but format the drive before giving it to him. Then, all he has to do is plug it in and turn it on. I hope he can handle an on/off switch.

    Oh, uh...yeah. Sorry, I forgot the part about formatting. It won't come formatted, but that takes what? Ten minutes? Not a big deal to do it for him.

    Ah. I've seen the FreeAgents on sale for less than the cost of separate parts though.

    In fact, when I got my 750gb version, you couldn't buy the drive by itself for that little.

    But if the case shits out, you can't pull out the drive to save the data without voiding your warranty. Remember this from another recent thread?

    Yeah, I've heard many bad things about Maxtor, never experienced it myself, but I've only had 2 Maxtor drives.

    Doh. I have my machine on worksafe mode. People and their obscene AVs could get my black ass in trouble, y'know?

    Adblock to the rescue.

    I have a ton of av's blocked here. Mostly the annoying ones that distract me when I'm trying to read a post.

    You know, like crazy animated gifs of people pounding the tar out of someone.

    Yeah, if anyone at work caught a glimpse of OT they'd think I was a sex-starved psychopath. :eek3:
