Gonna buy my brother a shotgun for his birthday coming up. I saw some Benelli Novas at the local Academy at a decent price. Anyone have one of these or use them? :dunno:

He's got an 870 already but its the youth model and in 20ga. He wants a regular size gun and in 12ga.

Also had some Mossbergs (I think they were model 500s) at good price too?

Cliffs: Benelli Nova or Mossberg 500? Already has an 870.

Friend has a 24" with a pistol grip. Really smooth, fun gun.

My friend's got one. I like that it's got the little button on the forearm to lock-out the feed tube, though I feels it's awkward to push due to it's position.

I would think it'd be handy for mixed payload shooting competitions..........................or poaching.

He'll be using it for bird hunting mostly. Dove and Quail.

So how does that work? You put a couple shells in the tube, press the button that locks them in place, and then you can fire them when you want?

    -load tube with bird shot
    -go hunt some doves
    -see monster deer
    -press nifty button
    -open chamber
-bird shot stays in tube instead of feeding one
    -slide in slug
    -close chamber
-check to make sure no one's looking
    -kill deer
