Does anyone actually own one or are they just fun to look at/talk about? I know everyone is a big proponent of a lightly modified 870.

    And the pic. just because:

That benelli's gas gun. I much prefer their inertial operated gun because they are so light weight and no messy gas means less cleaning

The M4 is a good gun, but like Yar, I like the inertia systems used on the other guns. Which is why I just got my new M2.

The reason for the M4 for the military was that at times, when you start to load a bunch of accessories and weight onto the inertia guns, they can start to have failures. The inertia guns actually need a certain amount of recoil to function. Weight on the gun lessens that and can cause issues.

The gas system in the M4 is to allow for more reliable gun for the military after they start hanging a bunch of crap onto their guns.

If you dont need the military gun and are going to keep things simple, go with an M2 instead of the M4 and save quite a bit of money.

I don't see myself spending that much on a shotgun. I'd probably jump in on the 870 crew if anything. I'm actually considering a 1911 for my next gun which I'm having a hell of a time picking (Maybe Springfield? I like their longslide loaded model)

Really no comparison. You could buy 2 870's + mods + ammo + training for the cost of one M4.

By all accounts they are badass, and if I had :unlimitedfunds: I'd no doubt have one... but realistically it suffers from the same shortcomings all shotguns suffer from... limited range, heavy and slow to reload.

    Word.

    870 + sling + light + class & ammo = win.
