benching on toes?

    their was a fellow at the gym benching working up to 1rm using PL form. i noticed he was on the top of his tippy toes (literally) to the point where the front tip of his shoe was only on the ground leaving the balls AND heels of his feet off floor.


    am i missing something or do lifters actually bench this way?

    That sounds like a textbook PL bench.

    Plenty of guys lift like this. I get more on the balls of my feet if not heels completely down and prefer it like that, but Scot Mendelson is a "on the toes" bencher. To each their own.

    Personal preference.

    I was on the balls of my feet for a while but now I'm more comfortable with my feet completely flat on the floor.

    Some people feel they can get more arch that way. I find it destroys my leg drive... I bench like CPop

    i googled some bench videos of Scot Mendelson and its a little different. heres an crappy example photo of his feet position when benching: his toes is pointing about 200 degrees toward him.
