Do you touch your chest when doing bb bench press? I try to touch one inch below my nips, but some broly guy said I could be putting too much strain on my shoulders. He was huge so I believe him.

If you aren't 100% positive that you have a condition which warrants partial range of motion, then chances are overwhelmingly so that there is no reason not to.

Physical therapist told me yesterday don't bring the barbell all the way down because its apparently really bad for your shoulders. She said the same thing about overhead presses and upright rows being bad too.

Most important part of that article:

I cannot overstate the importance of keeping the chest high and elbows tucked, as doing so will prevent hyperextension in the bottom position of the bench press. This hyperextension has been linked to anterior glenohumeral instability related to capsular trauma and too much traction on the acromioclavicular (AC) joint. Osteolysis of the distal clavicle can also become a serious problem in those who hyperextend the shoulder in the bottom position of the bench press.

Maybe he meant you are going too low on your chest, otherwise fuck him and he's an idiot.
