Shit, we got the hell beat out of us at my last testing.

Right of passage or something. We had two lines of about 20 people that we had to walk through.

Also, after our intructor ties our belt on the assistant instructor throws us(hes a judo BB) and then our main instructor submits us. Just a tradition of the school I guess.

Yeah we walk the line up and down 5 times for blue, 8 for purple forget how much for brown or black and then every body who has a belt higher then yours gets to throw you. After that you have to roll with everybody who came to the belt testing(like 20 guys). You get a free shot at the bar for getting knee on belly on the guy that just got his belt when rolling with him

I heard my school used to do it but then the promotion ceremony became public and it probably wasn't a good idea to have family members see people get beaten down like that..haha. my instructor told me that one year a kid tripped and broke his hand rightafter getting his belt...haha

i'm really surprised we dont do it thobc its a ralph gracie school and i heard he was nuts...but i also hear from theblackbelts that he's mellowed out A LOT.
