So I got my VM-ii and have been carrying with just my normal belt and it hasn't really been extremely comfortable - will a belt change that if I get one or is it have more to do with clothing selection?

Belt is part of it, but not every holster will work for everyone.

belt will mostly help with keeping it in a comfortable position and keeping your pants up.

Try a different position (more towards 12 or 6 o' clock).

You need a real gun belt more than you need an expensive holster. Its all about weight distribution and keeping it from rolling.

A belt will definetly help. If you're on a budget check out either the Wilderness 5 stitch belts, or an Aker B21 from galls. Both around $40. Or if you have a bit more to spare check out RafterS gunleather. I just ordered a black shark belt the other day :)

I managed to snag a $10 cloth holster as a temporary holster while I searched for a leather one, but I've actually grown quite fond of it. I can even wear it with basketball shorts around the house and still draw pretty quickly from it.

2 things: You really don't know what you're missing. And can you run, jump, and tumble while your gun stays solidly in the holster?

keep the vm2, it is one of the most comfortable holsters you can get - i didn't find mine to be that comfortable at first just because that part of my belt/pants was always sagging down and i would constantly have to pull it up, even if i had it on damn tight

with my thebeltman.net belt, it doesn't really sag at all, is so solid that if i drop it on the floor, it maintains the shape of my body, it doesn't just crumple up like normal belts, and to top it off, i've been wearing it over my normal belts lately because its just plain comfortable - while normal belts tend to stretch with wear/use, this one doens't seem to since it is double layered bullhide
