OK I'm a fat guy who's pushing 300lbs. Started eating right and exercising and have lost some weight.

I have a concern though, I use the eliptical machine because it seems like the best non-impact exercise that I can do, but my belly would flop around while I use it.

A friend gave me a compression undershirt to wear, and it seems to keep things stable. I was just wondering if this was a good ideal. It seems to me like its a good idea to keep my belly stable or that it might cause some sort of problem like reduced skin elasticity or stretch marks or something.

Am I right? Is the compression shirt a good idea?

leave the compression shirt at home.. let your belly flop so you have added motivation

I understand where you're coming from, but the flopping messes up my pace, especially when I push myself. When I have the compression shirt on things stay more stable so I can work harder without the flopping throwing me off or making me uncomfortable.

If you have a better reason to not wear it I'm all ears

sounds like you've already made a decision and the thread was an after thought. Wear what ever your comfortable in.

you probably shouldn't be pushing any sort of aerobic threshholds at your current weight

I may be fat but I've always been really active, never very seditary, so I really dont think its a big deal. Plus I had a physical and the doc said I was fine

Don't see why it would hurt. If it helps you exercise more effectively go for it.
