i saw that someone said they represented something with a bad connotation?

i just thought girls did them just because...

i mean what do they represent besides simple stuff like wanting to be pierced or being an individual, etc? :dunno:

I wouldn't say that they symbolize anything bad, they just tend to get a bad rep in the "body modification community" because they're a piercing that sorority girls tend to get because they're shiny, not as a piece of an ever evolving project

Fuck it though. If you like the piercing, then do it. I'll admit though that I was of that mentality to for a while. I have pierced so much on myself but alway said I'd never do navel because it was sooo over done. Thats a retarded thought process. I'll probably end up getting it done to complete the "collection". :)

I'm not saying not to get it, I'm just saying that that's why it's got such a negative connotation. Hell, if I had a nice stomach I'd be all over it like a fat kid on cake.

Oh, i didnt mean to come across like i disagree with you. Youre totally right. Same thing with tongue piercings. That and the navel are among the most commonly done piercings among high school/college kids, followed closely by the eyebrow.

I took my navel and tongue piercing out because every second person and their dog has them. But that's just my view.

I also believe that if you like something that shouldn't stop you from getting it done.

the popular local piercings here (besides navel and nose) are now tragus's and rooks. Last summer i had 11 girls from the catholic school come get their hoods pierced in one day. that was a fun day for me.

And on the subject of belly button piercings....I've had mine since I was 15. I don't remember why I got it, but I have to say I love it. Whenever I take it out for whatever reason I feel naked and fatter. :dunno:

I got mine done when I was 18...11 years ago, before it was "cool" to have it done. I've kept it all this time cause some of the jewelery out there is just awsome:naughty: . I'm in love with the "inverted" rings now!

You get the idea, some are very entrechat( the entrachat one aren't my cup of tea). They give this awsome illusion of the jewels floating in your navel.

Again, those that don't want to be judged for their modifications judging others because they don't agree with the reasoning behind the modification.

    Ridiculous.

I've had mine for 7 years. I didn't have any significance behind it other than I like the way it looks, and I still do.
