GUN Behold the latest incarnation of my 10/22

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Market Garden, Oct 9, 2009.

  1. The barrel and scope/rings showed up today. I got home from work, hurriedly threw it all together and then headed off to the range. After carefully breaking the barrel in by firing 1 shot and then cleaning it for the first 30 rounds I attempted to shoot some groups. My best 5 shot result is below, I'm sure the gun is capable of better as I was kind of hurrying with my shooting as the light was fading. Overall, this thing is awesome. The barrel is short enough that it's not too heavy to comfortably hold offhand. The scope is pretty damn decent for being so cheap. With the 15MOA base and the mil reticle I should have no problem engaging various targets out past 200 yards, which is the real purpose of this rifle. Oh, and I'm really glad that I went with the medium height rings, as I was undecided whether to get them or the shorts.

I've got that same ammo, good stuff.

  3. It is excellent, and the price is good compared to other match ammo. It's the exact same ammo as Wolf MT, just in a different box. SK actually makes it for Wolf.

Where are you finding bulk SK at? Link? I've got some pistol match stuff, but it's waaaaaaay slow.

Rifle is looking good. Gonna bed this one up? I think I'm gonna try floating the action and FL'ing the tube on my next one. If I don't get a 243AI instead.......

  10. The SK is from my local range. They have TONS of match .22 available. I'm not gonna bed this. With more concentration I could put them into a way better group (as in no flyer, and the main group a little tighter), so I'm not sure what benefit I'd get from bedding.

  11. It's from Tactical Solutions. I got it from Brownells.

Fuuuuuuuckkkkk. Shit's kinda scarce around here. I need to find me a good Eley connection. Would like to get another case of that....

  18. Expensive? A brick of match grade .22 for $46 is good these days!

I guess. I get decent enough groupings with federal bulk pack, maybe 1-2 MOA. Not very tactical, but it works for what I'm plinking at.

  21. Oh, and I was joking about the break in. I didn't do a fuckin' thing as far as break in is concerned.

We pay about $6 per box of 50, which isn't bad for match quality!

My shilen barrel shoots federal classic and minimags like a dream. Strangely enough, I get terrible accuracy out of federal match.
