Guys ... I'm thinking about buying my first flash to accompany my Rebel XT.

Was looking at a 430EX ... but was wondering if the "II" model is much different?

Would the 430 even be a good beginner flash? Any other manufactuers? I don't need REAL quality, but definately want E-TTL.

    Thanks!

The 430 is a great flash. The "II" has 20% faster recycle times and a silent recycle process. It also has a metal hotshoe mount and quick release. The 430ex is $200 new and the 430ex II is about $240 new. I think the new features are worth the extra $40.
