I just got a digital camera, Sony DSC-P200. My question is when I load a picture into Photoshop, it is only 72 pixals per inch. Then when I reduce the picture from 44" x 36" to 6" x 4" size, my quality drops. What am I doing wrong? I dont even know what question to ask, thanks for any help in advanced.

Don't resample, uncheck that box, then it will keep the same proportions when you change the dpi or size

don't resize your photo to 4"x6". if you plan on printing 4x6 photos, put your camera on 3:2 and it will shoot at 5mp but have a 3:2 image ratio.
