Not sure if you are all familiar with it, but if you are post your score and your sport/position.

First time doing the test last night and it sucked and I feel I could have done a lot better with a few variables changed.

I scored an 11. (Playing winger / rugby)

    Best explained with this link:

    http://www.topendsports.com/testing/tests/20mshuttle.htm

Basically an exponential decrease in time between audible beeps played on a cd/tape. In that time you have to run 20 metres. Scores are based on where your last completed beep interval was run.

Haha, I remember this from school!

I did pretty well - I got to level 12 I think. I was on the school 100m, 400m and cross country teams. That was back when I was a skinny bastard under 130lbs though.. no way could I do that now.

Apparently to qualify for the England rubgy team you need level 15.. holy shit.

I doubt a 300 pound prop would come close to level 10 let alone 15. I can imagine some of the loose forwards and most of the backs could come close though.

I started doing these over the summer for paintball and those things are intense! I went from a 7.8 to a 12.6 in 5 weeks

10.4 on a squash court. It's hard because, you have to stop, and start alot more. Because of that, I think it would be an 11.4 if I did it normally in a gym.

Only time I did one was when I was pretty fit at about age 17ish, I had a 13 something. At the moment I'd probably struggle to hit 12 :(

I know my score is going to seem pretty shit house compared to you guys and gals, but I've only recently been getting into going to the gym and getting back into shape after 2 years of slouching around

    6.1

Ever since doing the beep test again I've been doing alot more running, should be doing it again at the gym soon with my boxing class [it gets done every 4 weeks]

12 is by no means a bad score.

Anything >10 is meant to be very good for the average person who is not a competitive athlete.

12.5 and that was in college, back when I was playing hs bball I probably could have done a bit better. The 12.5 was also when I was a bit smaller but when I got up to 230ish I was still able to get 10+

It's also called the shuttle run...it's a 20m run from one side to the other, following the sound of a beep on the audio. the beeps get faster and faster and goes through levels in .5 increments.

I do it and only get a 8.5-9.
