Do you now have a different view on the whole Pride v UFC debate?

First Diaz beats Gomi (eventhough it was taken away from him we all saw what happened). Then Werdum loses to AA. Finally it is all capped off by Cro Cop losing.

Does this show that we were all infact underestimating UFC? Diaz couldn't win enough to stay in the UFC yet he beat Gomi, and now instead of running all over the UFC like we thought Cro Cop would do he has to start from the bottom. Is it still fair to say that these were all lucky wins or do we have to admit that the UFC really didn't suck all that much (and may infact have been superior)?

diaz is usually 170 and gomi 155, yeah he beat gomi, but he beat a smaller man. im not that impressed.

however, those elbows really showed a difference when crocop was getting GnP'd. Which made me think... if fedor ever comes to ufc and is allowed to use the elbows. :noes:

PRIDE LW = 160...or 161 if you wanna nitpick

and smaller fighters fight larger ones all the time. gomi's a large LW anyway, and it didn't play too much of a factor in their fight anyway

I think that is a cop out. Gomi could have fought that fight at 170 if he wanted to. He chose to come in light.

Yea but Fedors knees to a downed fighter and illegal headbutts would be curtailed so it all balances out.

I always looked at it like the pride and UFC had their better (deeper) divisions respectively. But there has been some recent reminders of the sports nature (which I love BTW) and that does mix things up. In HW I always saw the top 3-5 Pride fighters as untouchable by anything the UFC had, I guess thats kind of off now. Same for the LW division. But this will be good for the sport, not just 2 or 3 top guys who constantly fight each other and cans. Better to have a bunch of top guys who you cant really rank against each other contstantly going for a run at the belt.

he actually is pretty big, but i guess because there are lots of large LWs, it's hard to distinguish their size
