    Hey Guys!

I'm looking around for a good program to download books and music. A friend of mine suggested "bearshare", have any of you tried this program or have any opinions concerning it?

anti-spyware will not help with any program like bearshare and or kazaa.. the viruses and spyware you get from them have been implated into teh songs..

a good program to use is bittorrent.. search for a downloading app on sf.net and the trackers you will have to find yourself.. but a good one is torretspy.com

like everyone has said...bearshare has tons and tons of spyware. On their site it says you can pay the 3.99 a month and have no spyware...not sure if its true or not

What are trackers? I typed this into the search on torretspy.com, but I don't think the right kind of links are popping up - it gives me sites relating to car trackers. I'm not very familiar with the computer lingo as you can see :ugh:

He's using trackers in the wrong term really. What you do is download a Bittorrent program and then you download these small 10-100kb files that open in the Bittorrent and the file downloads. Pretty popular and you can find most of what you need on there. Google bittorrent for more info, you'll find lots.

If you're looking for a good plain ol program to download stuff I would try Ares ( http://www.aresgalaxy.org/ ) or Soulseek ( http://www.slsknet.org/ ) although Soulseek isn't free if you don't feel like waiting in line sometimes, but if you don't mind a wait everyonce in awhile it's free.
