Not talking about bear hunting here, we're talking you walk around a corner and there's a full-sized grizzly 30 yards away. Needs to have fast target aquisition, and be ultra-reliable. What do you think would work well? Pump? Semi-auto? Bolt action? Caliber? Sights? I usually spend the summers exploring old logging roads in Montana. Looking to invest in a bear gun. On a sidenote, I saw a show on the travel channel last night about Alaska. There was a guide who would take you hiking to observe kodiak's. While walking back from the trip, they came around a bend and there was a bear on the trail maybe.....30 feet away. This dumbass had a bolt action. Not loaded, with one round in his shirt pocket. The way he "scared" the bear away was by cocking the bolt, and not even actually loading it. The bear sort of meandered off, not really interested. If you ask me, this dumbass is gonna get himself and some hiker's killed like that. If that bear was hungry, they would've been goners.
