This is the new Jack Black movie, also starring Mos Def. Seems like a fun premise. I'm going to an advance screening tonight, and I'm actually kind of excited for it. I'm not going in with high expectations for Jack Black (whenever I do, my hopes get crushed), but Mos Def surprised me in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Impressions of the movie soon to come.

I just got back from a screening in San Diego.

The movie was alright, but just lacked something. I think everyone expects amazing from Michel Gondry after Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The movie had its funny moments, and its heartwarming moments, but some parts became confusing, and half the time I couldn't understand what Mos Def was saying.

But it was pretty cool, they gave out free t shirts (the one they wear in the movie).

    I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

    I'd tend to agree.

It wasn't a bad movie at all, but it just fizzled in some sections. Mos Def did a lot of mumbling, which disappointed me. I wish there was more of the actual movie-making parts, those were what made the movie for me.

Jack Black had a decent performance, but again, nothing special. Better than Nacho Libre, worse than School of Rock.

I'd give it a 5, honestly. I didn't come into the movie with high expectations, so it wasn't a real disappointment, but it definitely could have been better.

  6. Funny and Jack Black do not go together.

He is a failure just like this movie will be

    I just saw the commercial.

Is it just me or was this advertised under the radar?

    Interesting premise though.
