The Scifi channel remake. How good is it? Worth renting or buying?

You are going to get mixed results w/ this question. Season 1 = epic. Season 2 = pretty fucking good. First 4 episodes of season 3 = pretty swell. The rest is pretty lame.

lowfat is correct. But honestly, for the most part, it was probably one of the best sci fi dramas of the decade, so you minus whale watch it all. Although the last 1/4 of the show was a little :ugh: and felt like they made it up as they went a long, it's worth the watch.

Just rent them though, no need to buy. Start with the miniseries, then season 1, 2, 3, Razor and then 4.

I loved series 1 and 2, I got series 4 (and Razor) for Xmas and still need to pick up series 3 because it was sold out over Xmas.

Hopefully you're all wrong about the spiralling quality! :(

Miniseries was great. First two seasons were good, but a little repetitive with the "Whew, that was close. OH NOES, CYLONS!!!! Oh good, we got away. Whew, that was close. OH NOES..."

S3 got really boring, and I quit watching after the New Caprica stuff. From what I've read, S4 is just revealing the cylon of the week.

If SciFi stuck w/ 10-13 episode seasons it would have been mucho better. They could have cut out all the useless filler episodes they added. i.e. the black market & the boxing episodes :ugh:

The writers make everything up as they go and it shows. Starts off strong and then slowly descends into nonsense. Still worth watching though.

Season 3 and the SAG writers strike happened at the same time. Thus the lacking quality. I can't explain the rest, but I loved the series. Plenty of WTF moments to last a while though.

IMO Babylon 5 and Farscape are WAY better.

Just because the plot is horribly written doesn't mean the show has no redeeming qualities.

show was great until the middle of the third season, where it kinda lost direction. the filler episodes of the first 2 seasons were good because they were generally focused on showing how people were dealing with life in the fleet. once the third season hit you got the chief and spec. cally stuck in an airlock.
