Wallace would be owned by Hector. He was just a commoner driven to fight by circumstances. He won his battles because people rallied around him.

Hector, on the other hand, was the crown prince of Troy, trained as a warrior since he was old enough to walk, and the universally acknowledged greatest warrior and general of that country.

    Didn't see Gladiator. :dunno:

 Are you on drugs? Saruman and Gandalf aren't just these guys with powers. They are immortal spirit beings who participated in the creation of the world. They would squash Dooku and Magneto like insects.

    Probably.

Luke beat Vader. Vader killed Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan killed Maul. Maul killed Qui-Gon.

Luke would win. As long as you talk shit about his sister. :mamoru:

    Probably.

Aragorn has distant elf blood and he's a great hero, no question. But Achilles was the son of Zeus. His skin could not be pierced. He was immortal, invincible, and the greatest warrior of all.

    Achilles > Aragorn.

i think i'd have to give Mual the upper hand when it really comes down to it...

be was trained to fight from birth... he had more skill with a lightsaber and duelling than any jedi or sith lord known... and he was able to use the force to great extents.

his downfall was that he was cocky.

vader on the other hand, he can use the force as well, probably better due to circumstances...

however, he started off a pussy, and he died a pussy.

Maul was 100% on the prowl all the time and a fierce killer.
    Vader was a pussywhipped bitch

Vader is slow and not very agile, his ability with a lightsaber is limited to his general reach and radius, he's unable to move quickly ... his only saving grace with a lightsaber is that he may be able to anticipate moves... however with Maul's raw aggression, even with how intune to the force Vader may be, his reaction time might not save him.

so... I'm going to go with Maul, because quite honestly, he was much better in all aspects save for one

    Here's my analysis:
Advantages Darth Maul has over Darth Vader:
    Ray Park > David Prowse.
    Double ended saber = cool.

    Advantages Vader has over Maul:
    Vader has a cooler name.
    Vader has more backstory.
Vader cut off his son's hand.
Vader killed the emperor, who was Maul's Master.
Vader killed Obi-Wan, who killed Maul.
    Vader exterminated the Jedi.
    Vader ruled the galaxy.
    Vader had a better costume.
Vader made Natalie Portman pr0n! :eek3:

I think Vader would win. The only reason Maul looked like more of a badass is that they had a martial arts expert playing him. If Star Wars had been made now, I bet Vader would have a super badass in the mask, too.

vader isn't that great of a name compared to maul... maul has more of a finality to it, you know you'd be fucked if you were going to go against him...

backstory, yes, however, maul was never given the chance to be a further character because lucas is a fucking retard ... he pulled a Fett, which he later reversed since the Fetts are in all three prequels now.

Maul also singlehandedly took on two of the higher talented Jedi and held his own for quite some time.

Vader helped exterminate... however, bounty hunters did most of the dirty work.

Maul had the better outfit, much better to move in and it wasn't restrictive.

Vader got his ass kicked by Dooku and lost his arm and had to be saved by yoda.

Vader was also never trained as a killing machine, he grew up and his entire character was based on anger and his strength in the force, no real training with the exception of jedi training before turning dark... never made it to knight

Maul was trained fully in both, and various other styles of combat as well

he's got enough backstory to know that if it really came down it, Maul would Dominate.

the only reason he didn't in EP1 is because Lucas never wanted him to grow into a character people wanted to see more of.

too bad he did anyway :o

I need some help guys, I brought this up about a year ago and got shot down by a many OT'ers.

Is Count Dooku also considered a Darth? :dunno:

I thought so and it created quite a stir among the thread.

At this point, I suspect so, but I don't know. I think ep 3 will clear it up.

But Vader killed both Maul's teacher and the Jedi who killed Maul.

True, but they couldn't have done it without Vader and the Emperor.

But Vader's outfit was also body armor and life support.

As a child. Don't forget also that he was the strongest Jedi with the Force who was ever born (until Luke).

Until the Emperor completed his training personally.

Like I said, Ray Park > David Prowse. :big grin:

    :fawk: I don't agree.

And because he fucked with the wrong people. :big grin:

Sorry, but Obi-Wan let Vader win. Remember in ANH, when Obi-Wan retracted his lightsaber? "Strike me down and I will become more powerful than you can ever imagine"

Heres my $0.02... Vader is stronger in the force, and Maul has better hand to hand combat skills. In the original trilogy, we have to remember that Vader is a senior citizen, and not to mention he is also handicapped; being that he uses a respirator and mechanical limbs. You cannot compare the Vader that took control of the galaxy to the Vader 20 (+/-5) years later.

Given that they both fight eachother in their prime (even with Vader in handicap mode), I think Vader would win. The force is their strongest ally and he who has better use of the force, wins. For example, Jango Fett Was pretty much born to kill. Trained all his life for one single purpose, but he could easily be disposed by a SKILLED Jedi, right? Same concept applies. Darth Maul can use all the combat skills in the world, but if his moves have already been anticipated, its useless.

My vote goes to Vader... Even though I think Maul was much much cooler. :)

    Count Dooku = Darth Tyrannus

Vader was still beating him. He would have lost anyway. And the reason Obi-Wan turned off his saber is because of the "die in front of luke" rule. :big grin:

I think Vader would have still won even in ROTJ's timeframe. His power in the force only grew and grew.

Do we know this for sure? Meaning, has it been revealed? I thought it was only hinted at.

Yeah, Hector even won the respect of Achilles. I think he wins, as much as I like Aragorn.

I've gotta say that while Maul definately looked cooler (especially the pacing he did in the lull of the fight) Vader was much more powerful in the force.

What makes a Jedi, the force or using a lightsaber?

I think Dooku is Tyrannus, but we'll have to wait and see. Although that kinda blows the There are always 2, a master and an apprentice. If Maul was Sidious' apprentice, who is Tyrannus' master or apprentice?

Attunement to the force is what makes a Jedi great with a lightsaber. The ability to move fast, to know what your enemy is going to do, etc.

Has there ever been an official clarifying statement on that? I've always gone against the grain on the Sith-Lords - I interpreted it as "they come in pairs", not as "there are never more than two of them". Was I proven wrong? Also, the Jedi Council was wrong about other stuff. They might have been wrong about the "2 Sith-Lords" rule.

But even if there are only allowed to be 2, Dooku could have been just a run-of-the-mill former Jedi with dark tendencies, who Sideous took on as apprentice after Maul's death.

    http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/countdooku/

4th paragraph down taken from the official starwars website.
    Dooku= Tyrannus

There can be only 2. A master and apprentice. Maul died. sidious picked up dooku. there are still only 2. Dooku dies.... sidious picks up Anakin. Is that a spoiler? oh well...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Most of your nominations deserve a thread on their own.

I'd have to go with Wallace.

    NICE one.

You gotta factor in the Jem Hadar's use of suicide tactics.

Changlings running amok in the Empire?

But I'm sure the Empire's forces are MUCH bigger.

Hector would give wallace a sound thrashing. Hector was a professional warrior, the Captain of Troy's army, and the crown prince of Troy, trained in all battle techniques since he was old enough to hold a sword or bow. And he made a fairly good showing against Achilles (who called Hector the best he'd ever fought).

Wallace was no slouch, but he'd lose.

I'd like to see Hector vs. Lancelot vs. Musashi. :eek3:
