Alright, so I've been busting my ass for the past 4 or 5 months, doing squats, plyo, etc, and I'm seeing some gain (I went from a 19" vert to a 23" vert and I'm able to touch the rim).

That's good increase, but I'd like to get a "boost" for the next two months or so since varsity tryouts are in november.

Do you guys know of any tried and true programs that could help gain vert quickly? I was looking at http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drsquat18.htm and it seems like a good routine. Anybody try this?

Ive been trying to get my vertical higher. I havnt done any pylometrics or anything. But I noticed the more I was squating the higher I jumped. How much do you squat and dead lift right now?

I squat 200lbs-ish and power clean 160lb-ish - I'm no heavy lifter by any means. I don't think I do deadlifts right so I stopped doing those since I would probably end up fucking something up. :hs:

Yeah, I meant to bring this up too - what else needs attention to increase vert? My friend was telling me that abs are important, but is that true?

You don't believe hang time? I saying it like being able to get the most out of your jump.

Work your hams a lot! Abs are also important too... I used to play basketball in high school and had a 27" vert at 6'2". One legged squats helped me a lot too.

    Its all about ass.

Work your ass and hams. Calves really have very little to do with it and quads less so than either ass or hams.

Also I've read in a couple places(don't remember where) that stretching your groin out improves vertical since most athletes have tight groin muscles. Yet again I have no idea where I read the stretching stuff from, but I seem to jump higher after stretching those out.

Finally... 27'', thats nothin =) I've been in the low 30''s since jr year of HS and I still don't feel like I can really get up there.

    Deadlifts and squats

Oh plus, don't fall into that crap about doing a bazillion reps, just get your numbers up and you'll be able to push yourself higher.
