how would i hook up a new amp powering a different sub woofer?

im used to seeing a blue signal wire from aftermarket head units that connect to the amp.

    well, two ways:

    1) find connector C1 and tap it:
    Left Channel Tip=pin_4 Ring=pin_15
    Right Channel Tip=pin_5 Ring=pin_16
    (thats your low-level (RCA) input)

    2) find connector C2 and tap it:
    Left Channel Positive=pin_13 Negative=pin_5
    Right Channel Positive=pin_4 Negative=pin_12
    (thats your high-level input)

You can run the REM wire to the ignition. -OR- post the rest of the schematic, because you're missing half of it. There is gonna be a REM from the HU to the Amp.

I dumbed it down about as far as I should. If you can't figure it out from there then you should NOT be doing this yourself.

ok so.. assuming i want a sub woofer, i want to go with the low level correct?

so the signal (RCA based) would be something like this?

ok, so i stopped at visions (local stereo installer) and they insisted i needed some 70$ rca line level convertor thing... it was a 2"x2"x4" unit of some sort

    is that correct?

well if you use speaker wires, you want to go with option #2.

Otherwise, crack out the RCAs, a soldering iron, and some t-taps for option #1

    are t-taps a specific item?

wtf, you really should not be doing this, because you have reading comprehension problems.

THERE IS NO SPEAKER WIRE IF YOU DO OPTION #1.

cut, solder/heat-shrink on some leads, probably 12-16 awg. Then use t-taps to tap the connector.
