So what kind of bars is everyone liking these days? yeah, i should be eating real food but sometimes the choice is a bar or nothing/crap... sooo...

Best MRP? I can deal with it tasting like shit, good for me and cheap would be more important.

I still like the detour bars. The smores one is kick ass. I had another one, can't remember the name exactly but it was a crunchy pb and chocolate one.

I like the zone bars. They taste pretty good and are the only ones that doesn't funk up my stomach.

most of the bars you guys are mentioning have crappy soy protein... Any bars soy protein free?

edit: and i mean bad. like hurt like hell for an hour. nothing hurts my stumach. I can drink like a fish, eat anything i want... nothing. those bars layed the smack down.

The ingediant list has very little going for it... better then snickers? sure... but pretty halfass as far as serious training suplementation goes.

    mix 4 scoops whey+ 2 cups ground whole oats+ 1/2 jar (~12tbsps) natty PB + 1-2cups milk(depending on how soft you want them)+ 2-4 egg whites

mix it up and cook to desired dryness, i did 13 min or so at 350. Cut up and wrap in aluminum foil in fridge. Total cals are almost 4k, protein is something like 300g's i think. I used them as meal replacements when i didnt have time to eat real food. They aren't fantastic, but they are pretty decent, and the cals are there so :dunno:

Well... if the bars are all you're eating for the enitre day and is to be the source of most or all your nutrition. Sure. You have a point. But you're already in trouble. Of course if you're looking to a bar for 'serious training supplementation' you're already also in trouble.

Joe DeFranco I believe use to recomend the zone bars to his athletes before he came out with his own.

And while the zone bars look the worst labelwise, hopefully they're at least more accurate than the detour bars, who had previously outright lied about their label claims.

I'd spend this brain power finding a way to get real food in you, instead of finding an easy way out. If it wasn't living at some point, it has no place on your plate.
