Typically, I wear something Banana Republicesque to go out.

The problem is that their clothing fits me terrible (44" chest, 16" neck, 32" waist, 36" sleeves).

I want something that is nice, that I can wear with jeans, but not too trendy, and slightly understated.

My general look is jeans, pumas or loafers, and anything from a tee to a buttom up. Everyonce in a while, I'll wear casual linen pants, but if I get too dressy, I'm way out of touch with the people in the city where I live.

    What do you guys recommend?

Find a store with button-ups that fit. Most brands sell decent button-ups. Zara, jcrew, club monaco, fcuk, etc.

Only reason I'm not saying h&m and uniqlo is bc i dunno if there is one near you, but if you come across one, those are good too.

If you don't go out that much, buy just one or two more upmarket shirts just for going out at night. Instead of a dozen BR/Zara and such. This way you always wear a killer, high quality shirt when going out. That works for me because I only need it once or twice a week, but some people go out every night so they need more variety.

So think Varvatos, Michael Kors, Marc Jacob if you wear jeans. Just grab the more understated styles in a casual line and find a good fit. Theory fit is fantastic and very understated too, I highly recommend Theory.

If a shirt is very good and understated you can definitely just rock it every time. Don't need a big wardrobe.

Thank you. Varvatos is my favourite, but I find myself looking a bit too fashionable (I live in a small city).

    Where can you buy Theory?

you could also have shirts taken in for around $20 a each. i might start doing that too since my measurements are similar (43 chest/32 waist)

Upscale department stores like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale, or Saks usually have Theory. Oher than that, there appears to be an outlet in Texas when I looked online. Theory has its own store where I live (Atlanta), but there's not too many of those in the country.

Theory shirts are one of the best. Averages around 170 for a button up.
