Does anyone know where I can find an official list of banned substances in the military?
Yeah, they're called any non over the counter or perscription (with a valid perscription) drugs. Including steroids.
Thanks, but I am looking for an official list that I can actually print out and show to someone at my gym who doesn't believe that creatine is banned, even though I think it is.
I do not think creatine is banned. If it is then why are they selling it on base.
I don't know, I just vaguely remember reading somewhere (mabye military.com?) that it was a banned substance, but I just spent the past 20 minutes searching for it and couldn't find anything. The guy at my gym said I should take creatine and I told him I didn't want to because I think that it's a banned substance, but he thinks there's no way it would be banned, so i'm trying to find an official list somewhere.
3ID banned its use while they were deployed to Iraq last year.
That's not an Army-wide thing, though.
Well I could see banning use while deployed because it can cause dehydration. I'm sure some u nits did the same with ephedra some years ago.
guys are using it here.... creatine that is
creatine is not banned. the bx/px on base, GNC on base at my home, and both places here TDY and the gym shop all sell creatine. Both GNcs say they don't sell anything not allowed, all sell creatine.
There are OTC things banned -- would be nice/interesting to see a list. I saw a shorter one when I was in ROTC, when they banned some style product. Don't remember what it is
There are only a few things as far that goes that are banned.
Amnastein(sp) is one
His Company CO was a shithead, so I wouldn't put it past him to ban it just for shits and giggles.
Doesn't stop them from banning it because some colonel heard it causes dehydration.
I had the banned substance list when I was in from my SACO. I believe it came out in 2004 when they were banning certain types of pro-hormones. Ephedra is also banned because of all the people abusing it.
they sold creatine at all the pxs in iraq...
well, said colonel probably heard it from the doctors and researchers who believe it does.
Does anyone know if HMB is banned? And where can I find an official list of all banned substances?
Any Company Commander can ban it for the soldiers under his command at his/her discretion. Nobody said it was a theater-wide or even FOB-wide thing.
Gotta love the add to but not take awayfrom ( for Co's) liberties in teh military
accord why do you care you never gonan ship out anyways.
Is that why I passed out from dehydration while on creatine
When did you pass out, like what were you doing? Were you doing PT/running/etc. when it happened?
I think I want to start taking creatine but i'm worried about it effecting my running.
I'm not sure if Salvia D. is banned or not. Thats supposed to make you trip out. its legal to buy as a civilian, but I don't know if its 'legal' if you fall under the UCMJ.
Stew Smith the Navy SEAL claims creatine is worthless for military style endurance training and people on creatine can't even run 1.5 miles: http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,81753,00.html
Then this article on about.com claims it can help endurance athletes on their runs and whatnot: http://bodybuilding.about.com/od/bodybuildingfaq/f/creatineaerobic.htm
I don't know who to believe.
Creatine increases your water intake by a lot.
