Is it true they're going to close all their locations? Heard this rumor but can't find solid evidence of it...Thinking of switching to them but I don't want to be locked in a contract if the only location here ends up closed.

Yes, I also heard that you can now purchase a 3 year contract at a steep discount.

their website and the rep person who I talked to today for my free trial both say there's a $25/month deal going on which is a few cents less than I pay at 24 hour... Doesn't say if it's a contract or not but I assume it is.

Oh, I was just joking. I guess I should have said 10-year to make it more obvious.

Why switch to save a couple cents?

    it's not about the money..

    Current gym (24 hour):

-too packed before 8pm to use any equipment without waiting
    -rusty equipment
    -hexagonal plates
-everything is dirty and smells bad

    Bally:

-went today during peak hours (530PM) and didn't have to wait for shit. fewer people
    -very clean facilities
    -well maintained equipment

The most important thing is that I can get my workouts in around 5pm-7 rather than 9pm-11... I think working out late has been the reason I only ever get 6 hours of sleep which is probably affecting my progress in the gym as well as overall health.... plus if I had my nights free after 7 I could go out more which is starting to seem more appealing.

Who cares what gym you go to as long as they have sufficient equipment?

I go to gold's in Soma since it's right next to work; I go there during lunch.

Equipment is awesome but it has a very very heavy gay influence on the place, meaning, staff, people who workout, and music is all super gay.

true but equipment isn't even my top concern. if 24 hour is screwing my schedule that's all that needs fixing. rusty equipment and BO doesn't bother me... if anything it adds to the "hardcore" aspect of training and might motivate me at times.

Bally's closed two out of their three gyms in the Kansas City area. They have had two bankruptcy filings in the last 5 years, and I would not pay to be a member when there are so many other options. They told all their members in KC to go to the only club remaining or STFU

different 24 Hour Fitness' have different equipment :o

i think the older ones tend to have better equipment suited for your needs, such as circular plates, but the newer ones i see are always hexagonal rubber covered and stuff.

i kinda like working out at 24 because right now basically the only areas i use are the squat rack and the bench, and although the bench is basically always being used, there's basically nobody EVER on the squat :o

I think you're right. The one I go to is old and busted but they have tons of round iron plates, 3 squat racks, 6 flat benches, DBs up to like 130lbs, etc. They have everything I need. I don't care about brand new, color coordinated machines and all that crap.

yeah tell me 6 benches and 3 racks are enough when there's 150 people in the weight room every day until 11pm... cardio machines even more crowded. The ghetto equipment doesn't bother me too much but the crowding is unbearable.

That's why I go at 2:30 in the afternoon. There probably aren't even 50 people in the gym at that time. I rarely have a problem getting a bench or rack when I need it.

    I agree, a crowded gym would be a deal-breaker.
