Pretty simple... do we bailout the car companies with some of the funds already set aside to bailout the banks?

    .

= continuation of companies that should otherwise fail because they don't sell shit people want to buy at competitive prices.

Isn't the whole idea behind the US that if the company does poor business, they are allowed to fail and in turn it allows the ones that are doing it right to pick up the slack?

Bail them out, and we are going completely against that.... plus, you bail them out now and there is a very high probability that they will be right back at this spot in 2-3 years.

When was the last time these guys actually made money?

Agreed... but what are your thoughts about all the people that would lose their pensions if these companies go bankrupt?

We bailed out Chrysler before, and they're still around failing it up as usual.

do they deserve it, NO. Do we need to, yes. Too many jobs/industries affected not too...

but i wonder just how close they really are to going under. I say let them sweat it out a little while before we just show them the money...

plus these bail outs are whats wrong with out economy. The longer we bail out these failing companies, the longer we stay in recession. The government needs to let these companies fail and then the market will level itself out. Through out history major companies have crashed and then another company either bought them or bailed them out. Theres no need for this government involvement.

The companies are failing for a reason. GM was doing horribly before the recession. They need to hurry up and let that dinosaur go extinct.

Why not at this point...bailing everyone else out. At least the car companies provide a product.

blaming the unions alone for the top 3's collapse isn't exactly correct, but I do see where you are going with this.

Only if it's tied to a bankruptcy and reorganization, particularly labor. Fire the fuckers and watch how many miles long the line would be for new hires at $20 / hr for unskilled labor w/ benefits. MILES long.
