the biggest for me is you dont have the ability to have a media library where you designate folders and it auto scans them every time you add new content.

countless other shit that i hate, but im forced to use it. dont get me wrong, there are good things about itunes too.

    Sorry.... iTunes for Windows FTL
Don't listen to music with my iBook, so I'm not sure how iTunes runs on the OS it was natively designed for... hopefully better than Windows.

For Windows, why does it suck?
    - QuickTime comes with iTunes, no way to install it without QT... pretty lame
    - Doesn't play flac, ogg, or other audio types than mp3 and AAC pretty much
    - Loads pretty slowly on a fast machine compared to other audio players I use, like fooobar2000
    - Installs 11tybillion Windows services that run in the background... no thanks!

because you are supposed to add new content to your main library.

if you want sub-playlists you create them out of your main library.

itunes doesnt do things behind the scenes, it does them in front of you. you aren't supposed to micromanage itunes method of organization.

if set up properly, you download a new song and add it to the library. if it is set up properly "keep itunes folder organized" it will create the appropriate directory as needed. if you delete a song/album it will delete that directory.

adding a song to a sub-directory and then having it autoscanned by the player is no different than adding it to the library first and then creating the sub-playlist.
