Looking forward to that experience. There's a prairiedog city on a farm owned by my girlfriend's grandfather that's just begging to have a population culling.

Oh, and my dealer gave me a box of blanks...not sure what I'm going to do with them since I only plan on feeding this rifle FGMM but hey, I won't complain about free stuff.

I heard about this "j-lock" but don't really know what it is. Care to explain? :)

A horrid safety feature that Remington introduced, it's a small J shaped lock on the bolt shroud that makes the bolt inoperable. The problem with them is that they've been known to engage themselves, plus they're a dumb idea in the first place.

Best thing you can do is buy a new shroud from Gretan or one of the other numerous companies that make them.

So that means all you really have to do is run out there and catch the thing with your bare hands. ;)

Why does it have to be fat to catch it? I caught this one by throwing my jacket over it:rofl:

    Nice looking rifle.

EDIT: FGMM is the standard, but my Savage groups just as well with the Black Hills Red Box 168gr SMK loading, and it is usually anywhere from $3-$5 cheaper/box.

I'm a huge fan of Black Hills ammo. Their .223 functions flawlessly in my AR, and groups respectfully for $21/50 rounds.

I'll have to try their .308, at the moment I've got Lake city match grouping at 1/2"-3/4" MOA in my NEF Survivor. If this stuff groups the same, I might start using it.

I've been buying it at gun shows. Sometimes Cheaper than Dirt and other places online have it, but the match stuff is somewhat hard to come by.
