Squats. Heavy for medium amount of reps (6-10) and lighter for 20 reps

i would think cardio (running+biking), along with lighter squats in the high reps would help. i'd like to think you need to get your endurance up

Must be a boring climb if people are stacking rocks.

20 rep sets of squats will make a man out of anyone. It's like this one bike rider guy at my gym. He says he won't train legs because he gets enough workout biking and running. Well... if his legs were a little stronger, he could ride with the same ease one gear higher. That's a shit ton faster. I'm not saying dude needs to not run and do the stair climber, but I am saying that 4-6 sets of 20 squats once or twice a week will make a fucking big difference.

I don't know much about squats+bike riding, but it's something I'd like to know more about since I ride a lot..

I know sprinters do heavy squats :dunno:

they're not carrying backpacks either. you don't exactly build platz quads doing 20 rep sets.
