F'd up on Saturday. Broke my form on my last lift, felt a strain in my lower back. Now it's somewhat painful to bend over, or put a load on my spinal column :squint: It's not debilitating, but it will definitely hamper any future lifting.

Any thoughts on what I can do to help myself recover? I know it's hard to say how severe it may be, but I just thought I would ask to see if anyone has had a similar problem.

    Mackenzie stretches. Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory). Ice.
Hope to hell you didn't put a disc out.

    http://www.1backpain.com/back_exercises.htm

I hurt my back in 1993 or so deadlifting. It's taken a lonnng time to heal. I had a disc herniate and another bulge on me last year and was on my back for 4 days pissing in a cup. Sucked.

    Play it safe.

    Any tingling in your legs?

Also - make sure your hips / glutes are REALLY loose. That's a major problem for most dudes, and why we get those lower back injuries.

it's not always "advice" we have to give, just our personal experiences.

Thanks for the input. No tingling. I'm still quite mobile, just some tightness/pain when I do something that makes my lower back muscles fire. I've been doing some stretches like those, I will continue that.

I didn't injure my back DL'ing but I did have a pretty severe strain/pull on my lower-back ligament.

Best thing to do is for the next week, stay off the weights, take it easy, don't sleep on your stomach, don't DL for at least a few weeks, and take some IB-profen for the pain and inflamation.

If it doesn't go away after a week see a doc.

And just because it "feels" better do not rush back into deads or squats.

take 2 weeks off. competely off. don't do any training whatsoever. its takes as much discipline to train regularly as it does to NOT train lol.

So true. This will be difficult for me. Lifting has become such a part of my life :o Not like some people on here, but it's definitely important to me.
