Well, I went to the therapist Saturday and here was the diagnosis:

My L5 vertebrae is twisted to the left, leaving it out of alignment. That is why it pops from time to time. He has suggested to not DL, Squat, or do GM's, as they apply direct pressure on the spine. Not to thrilled about that. I have to go to 8 weeks of therapy to try and realign the vertebrae. He also noticed that I have almost no mobility in my lower back. When I bend, I bend at the hips and the upper back. So he has given me several stretching/strengthening exercises to do while going through therapy. I am going continue working out, but trying not to tax the lower back, which I am finding hard to do, since you hit it indirectly when doing so many exercises.

    This sucks...

Have you looked into going to a chiropractor?

The PT I saw was doing different manipulation techniques and deep tissue massage on my back. The next day it felt like someone hit me with a baseball bat. I have another appt. today.
