I'll be in Phoenix for several days and don't know anything about the gun laws over there.

Can I keep a loaded handgun in the glove compartment of a rental vehicle?

I found this requirement but am not sure if they are talking about a loaded gun.

It is unlawful to carry a firearm concealed within the immediate control of any person in or on a means of transportation. This does not apply to firearms carried in a case, holster or in a means of transportation or a storage compartment, trunk, pack, luggage, or glove compartment of a means of transportation.

Any general facts about the gun laws there would be appreciated.

Pretty sure you won't be able to keep a loaded gun in the glove compartment if you're not an Arizona citizen.

As long as the gun is in a storage compartment of the vehicle you are gtg for having it loaded. With or without a CCW.

State law is a state law, you don't need to be a resident to abide by them.

Alright. That's sweet then. But not every state is like that, that's why I asked.

Just as an example, if a Wisconsin resident crosses the border into Minnesota with a loaded gun in their glove compartment, and gets caught... they'll be going to jail.

Even if a Minnesota resident has a loaded gun in their car with no permit, they'll be going to jail.

That sounds more like it is just illegal to have a loaded firearm stored in a vehicle :hsugh:

And in WI, we aren't allowed concealed carry at all, and can't carry in a vehicle at all; firearms must be unloaded and encased.

Of course, this doesn't apply to LEO, since apparently the government doesn't trust citizens enough to CC :coolugh:

It was just an example. It's not illegal, you just have to have a permit to carry, lol.

    touche

I think both states are pretty much equally filled with backwoods hillbillies, but at least you've got Minneapolis-St. Paul. All we have is Milwaukee, which is quite a shithole and is not going to be improving any time in the forseeable future. Maybe if the idiots in this state would stop electing socialist douchebags, it'd be a better place to live :hs:

Yeah the Twin Cities is pretty much all we have going for us. And it's definitely nice.
All the rest is pretty much the same thing no matter what border you cross. Outstate that is.

That's probably because Wisconsin doesn't allow handguns or something along those lines.

I doubt you'll find a law that on handguns that applies to citizens vs. non-citizens. I think that would fall under the Privileges and Immunities Clause.

It was just an example, you could substitute any other state in there.
It has nothing to do with Wisconsin and everything to do with Minnesota law.
