/fail wtf is happening to seagate
got me one of these though
I hate that heatsink on the VelociRaptor. I mean, it's a good idea, but it doesn't align the SATA plug properly, so now it's impossible to use it in a hot-swap bay.
Anyway, what makes you think something's happening to Seagate as a whole? Everyone's allowed to fuck up once in a while.
WD updated it
seagate complaints/RMAs and shit are getting a plenty lately
My faith in them is fading. My 5 1TB ES2 drives I got a ~3-4 weeks ago are having issues. When I start my computer they all make quite a bit of clicking noise. One has already failed and I wasn't able to get my RAID card to recognize it. Returned it and have had the replacement in for 4 days and it failed. When they fail (both did the same thing), I hear quite a bit of loud clicking then my RAID alarm goes off. This second time my card recognized the drive after a couple reboots. I also moved it to a different slot on the RAID card to see if the cable was the issue.
I have recently learned (at work) that the Hitachi (Gemini) HUA721010KLA330 1TB drive is running circles around the Seagate (Moose) ST3100340NS. The Hitachi is a little more expensive but if I could do it again I would definitely have bought the Hitatchi's.
Interesting. So they added a pass-through. Smart idea.
I still want to put four o' them bitches in this, though:
