are there any? like a selector switch, only instead of semi-auto/auto, there's cycle/don't cycle, something like that. just to keep the brass from ejecting. i think those little attatchable bags are :greddy:

not that i'd never need to cover my tracks in a dark alley or anything....

Cycling is an essential portion for a pistol action, if not the most important action.

why would you want to do that anyhow? Match pistol shooting? You might as well get a contender type pistol.

Okay, so I may be wrong. But school me here, what does this accomplish? for what purpose would you want both one that cycles and then doesn't cycle?

When you have a can on your handgun and when you don't. Having an auto that doesn't cycle is going to make it a fair amount quieter then when it does cycle. Probably no other real purpose than that is my guess.

Yeah, check around forums for info on silencers. Some guns can be fitting with a slide lock (the HK Mk23 originally was designed with one) to prevent the noise of the slide cycling, and some guns simply don't develop the backpressure needed to move the slide when they are suppressed.

Just curious why you would want to do that, I can also only come up with the silencer option or collecting brass for reloading.

Racking the slide of a semi-auto manually every time you want to fire will get old and impractical fast a revolver will keep all the brass in place until you empty it.

Do you have a gun in mind to do this to? Like has been pointed out some can be modified to do what you are asking, others it might be easier to buy a new gun.

You could also load primer only ammunition. Often that will not make enough pressure to cycle the slide.

uh, NO. Negatory. :nono: You will not have enough of a charge for the bullet to even come out of the barrel. and it still may have enough to cycle. trust me, I've done it a few times.

And yes, it's called a "squib" round. You have to place a dowel in the barrel and tap the bullet out with a hammer.

DO NOT attempt to shoot it out. If it don't pop STOP!

You're aware that they SELL primer only ammunition, right?

    http://www.aguilaammo.com/supercolibri.htm

It won't cycle the action, but i've yet to have one not clear the barrel.

Okay, from that link, now read the disclaimer. And besides, the statement I address specifically suggested to "load" primer only cartridges. I load ammo, and you can not accomplish this with a center fire with out a squib. Besides, who nowadays will use a .22 for SD? it sounds like it could work with Rimfire, but not with a center fire cartridge.

    Aguila Ammunition - New Products
    .22 Super Colibrí (No Gunpowder)

    Its basic characteristics are:
    Bullet configuration
    Bullet Material
    Bullet Weight
    Velocity
    EnergyConical, Solid Point
    Lead
    20 grains (1.296 grams)
    500 fps (152 mps)
    11 Ft-Lb
After the great popularity achieved by our .22 Colibri, we decided to develop another cartridge, also without gun powder, providing it with a higher velocity. The .22 Super Colibri is a round for those wishing to have more power while still being able to discharge their firearms without bothering to wear ear protection.
The most relevant difference with the .22 Colibri is that this new round has almost 33% higher velocity!
It will not cycle the slide of semi automatics firearms.

WARNING: This cartridge is lethal at short and medium distances. All regular safety principles apply!
WARNING: These primer only loaded rounds must be fired only in handguns. When fired in long barreled firearms such as rifles, bullets may remain lodged inside the longer barrel. A subsequent firing of a regular .22 rimfire cartridge may result in injury or death to the user or other.
