I'm looking at picking up my second GTO

    right now I have a 04 M6

    I want an 05 or an 06

I have found a few A4s with LOW miles for alot cheaper than their M6 brethren

what do you guys think? pay the extra few grand for a M6 or buy a cheap A4?

If you're going to race the A4 is better. Fuel consumption is worse though. Buy whatever you really like.

    autos are faster?

I've always thought manuals were faster since they got more power to the wheels?:o

I'd go that route if I were doing a GTO, honestly. Even though I want a stick just to play with :o

Well...if I got an auto I think my masculinity complex would MAKE me SC it:mamoru:

But the only vehicles I have owned have been sticks and I like driving them...seems more fun

plus when people ask if its a stick and you say yes they :eek3:

if you say no its automatic they :hsugh:

I know I shouldn't care what people think but I can't help it :hs:

The manuals are a real bitch to launch. If you want to drag race you're better off with the auto. If you don't race and love manuals than get that.

how stiff is the clutch? I only drove an a4 04 back when the dealers were wanting 40k for em. The auto felt great and all but it's a real let down getting brake fade on a fucking test drive

Fuck em, man. I get so much shit for driving an auto.
I have a built 4R70W w/ a 3200 stall and a valvebody that lets me use a manual action shifter effectively - hardened shafts ect..
Guys with their notchy ass TR3650's or hotshots in their old ass T45's or even T5's give me smack, let race:fawk:
Never miss a shift, multiplies torque, never bogs, i can program line pressure, shift schedules (or shift myself by slamming it up/pulling down), i can even program in rev matched downshifts if I want. And it can handle 600+ without ever needing to be taken out for a new clutch either.
Over 400+ they don't want to do hard launches...:greddy:

    Get the Auto.

I have stick shift cars and auto cars.

Most the of time I take the auto cars because I get stuck in traffic.

I think eventually manual trans will go the way of crank starting and carbs

As far as getting stuck in traffic, that's not a problem where I live:o

    dammit...I can't decide

Isn't that a large majority of people though?

The more I read about it, the more convinced I would be faster with an auto:hs:

I LOVE the clutch in mine versus all other sticks I have driven(mostly run of the mill cars)

but the brake fade fucking SUCKS:greddy:

I've always thought that I just sucked at driving a stick...that was why I couldn't launch my car for shit

I want to drag race, but it will also be a dd...occasional trips to the track...nothing serious

    :bigthumb: yeah

i remember manual day at the track, and people were letting off of the gas when they were shifting, i was like :ugh2::ugh2::ugh2: wtf are these retards doing, they should get their balls cut off

anyways, one dude had a mustang, he was shifting that thing between 9500-10,000rpm, fucker was amazing.. sounded like he was using a clutch less shifter, but he sure as hell wasnt

For straight, autos are always better. Especially from a dig. Even if you lose more power, you put the power to the ground better at launch and longer because of shorter shifts. With trans like the AMG's that allow you to shift, they are good in the corners too.

However, nothing beats shifting your own gears. :wiggle:
