auto detecting......

    i just built a computer for a buddy
    and when it posts it read the cpu and ram just fine
    but it pauses then it says auto detecting........then then the hard drive
    then it does the same for the optical drive

    i can't remember what bios it is but it's an asus K8N motherboard
    and could this be why it blue screened a couple of times

    it should auto detect once and that is it.....
    you should then go into the bios setup and save it right?

    Mine does something simialr if I leave a usb flash disk, etc connected.

    Like the above said, it will auto-detect everytime the machine is rebooted.

    What is this about a blue screen? You have to give some more details like when you get the blue screen and what the error and error codes say for us to help.

    i've never got to read the blue screen myself, i know its not much help. But it does it when nobody is doing anything on it......
    i think i'm gonna bring the puter home and just let it run till it does it and then read it myself.....

    the only thing he remembers it saying is missing drivers.....not much help
