Is there a link to a publicly available online document that details when/where the BDU is authorized to be worn? I'm not looking for where you wear it, or where you've seen other people wearing it. I'm looking for an official "you can wear it here, but you cannot wear it there" statement.

    USCG ODU-

    Occasions for Wear

Worn in any situation where any form of dress uniform is not
required or more appropriate and while commuting, including brief
stops for gas and drive-thru business. It is not a liberty uniform

Could just be the CG witht he ODU, but it's the same thing as the BDU but diff colors. The picture in that link is the exact copy of the Commandants instruction manual we have at work and the one online usin' the CG web.

I can only speak for Army regulations... The following is taken from Army Regulation 670-1 Wear and Appearanc of Army Uniform and Insignia

3-3a. Soldiers may wear BDUs on duty when prescribed by the commander. Soldiers may wear BDUs off post unless prohibited by the commander. They may not wear BDUs for commercial travel unless authorized by para 1-10c of this regulation. Personnel may not wear BDUs in establishments that primarily sells alcohol. If the establishement serves alcohol and food, soldiers may not wear utility uniforms if their activities in the establishment center on drinking alcohol only.

Yep Army is up to the local commander. In Germany we could wear them off post if we were only going to be making short stops in public (ex: stopping to eat was ok, walking aorund downtown wasn't) That did change for a while after 9/11 to not being able to wear them off base at all, even the married people had to drive in and then change.

Excellent. Thanks, guys/gals. If anybody has links or quotes from regs for other branches, please feel free to post 'em up. :bigthumb:
